12. Using Opstream on Mobile

Opstream works in the web browser on your phone or tablet. There is no app to install. Sign in at your usual Opstream address and you get a version of the platform built for a small screen.

The mobile version is for keeping work moving while you are away from your desk: checking on requests, reviewing them, approving or rejecting your tasks, and replying to comments. Submitting new requests and configuring the platform need a computer.

Tablets get the mobile version too, even with a large screen. Making your desktop browser window smaller does not switch it to the mobile version.

12.1 What You Can Do on Mobile

Sign in and get started

  • Sign in and sign out
  • Finish first-time setup when you are invited to Opstream
  • Open your Home page

Find and track requests

All of the request lists in the Requests menu are available:

  • All requests, Archived and Shared with me
  • My Requests: Created by me, Incomplete, To Review and To Submit
  • My Department: To Review
  • All Invoices
  • Your custom dashboards

On mobile, the Requests menu opens from the side of the screen. Each request is shown as a card instead of a table row. Scroll down to load more, and pull down to refresh.

Review a request

Open any request to see its details on one scrolling page. Each part opens and closes with a tap:

  • Products requested (software requests)
  • Review Status: the approval timeline and where the request is waiting
  • Files & Links
  • Comments
  • Requester Response, Approver Questions and Vendor Contacts & Response
  • Overview, Payment and Purchase Order

Item tables appear in the request and can be read on mobile.

Act on your tasks

  • Approve or reject the tasks assigned to you. Your open tasks are at the top of the request.
  • Complete the Approver Checklist. If an approval needs you to answer questions first, the checklist opens full screen so you can answer and approve in one go.
  • Comment and react on a request, and reply to colleagues.
  • Upload a file where the step asks for one.

12.2 What Needs a Computer

These parts of Opstream are not available on a phone or tablet:

  • Submitting a new request. If you open a request form on mobile, Opstream shows a message asking you to use a bigger screen. A Back to Request Details button takes you back to the request you were viewing.
  • Managing the approval timeline: adding a reviewer, reassigning or changing a review, adding a vendor or vendor contact, and adding a document for DocuSign signing.
  • Expanding an item table to its full-screen view.
  • Filters and table settings on request lists.
  • Admin settings, the Schema Editor and approval flow configuration.
  • Vendors, Software, Documents, Analytics, Budgets and invoice review.
  • The in-app support chat.

If you follow a link to one of these pages on mobile, Opstream takes you to All requests instead.

12.3 Tips

  • Act from your notifications. The quickest path on mobile is to tap the link in an Opstream email, Slack or Microsoft Teams notification. It opens the request directly, so you can review it and approve.
  • Keep an eye on unfinished requests. You can’t fill in a request form on mobile, but you can see the requests you started on a computer in Incomplete and pick them up later at your desk.
  • Check the Review Status first. It shows which step the request is on and who it is waiting for, without opening every section.

This site uses anonymous analytics to work out which pages are useful. Visits are not tied to anyone, and nothing you type is recorded. See the Opstream privacy policy.
